THE MAKE-UP TRIP
Actually, we have planned to go to Hua Hin with our colleagues to give our kids an opportunity to be familiar with a group trip. Unfortunately, the trip was postponed. However, the kids have been waiting for this weekend trip for months and we could not disappoint them. Especially, Dad will be away on his business trip during the following week.
Therefore, we had to find a perfect place for this urgent trip. Pattaya is the nearest destination for our family. As we traveled there many times, we did not plan to visit any other attractions. We preferred a resort on the beach with good amenities.
Finally, we chose Sea Sand Sun Resort and Spa. The kids were exciting and packed the bag by themselves, choosing their own outfits, toys and VCDs. They also announced they preferred to sit with Dad at the back seats and let Mum be a driver for this trip.
Lucky Dad, they fall asleep 15 minutes after we left home.
HOW WE SELECTED THE ROOM
The resort comprises 6 room types and there were only 6 rooms left on the day we called to make a reservation. i.e. one Deluxe Pavilion, one Garden Suite with Jacuzzi, one Pool Villa Suite, one Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite, one Two Bedrooms Villa Suite and one Ocean Front Pool Villa Two Bedrooms Suite. We wanted to book the Deluxe Pavilion but the room available was provided with twin beds. We preferred one king size bed. So we had to book the Garden Suite with Jacuzzi. The Pool villa was too expensive and the pool was too deep for the kids.
The Garden Suite was a single villa with an outer main gate and an inner door to the room. Inside the gate, there were a Sala with a dining table, a Jacuzzi, two sunbeds with a garden umbrella on the balcony connecting to the living area.
HOW WE MADE USE OF BATHTUB
The bathroom were at the end of the suite with separate bathtub and outdoor rain shower on the left side, the toilet and dressing area on the right side. The outdoor rain shower has an outside door connecting to the Jacuzzi area.
After playing on the beach, in the swimming pool and in the Jacuzzi, this bathtub was where the kids continued playing for another 30 minutes before they were ready to have dinner. It was Mum’s strategy to let them burn their energy and be ready to have a big meal. It did work very well. They had seafood spaghetti and fried chicken with sticky rice. That was a great combination of western and Isan food for them.
WHAT THE RESORT MISSED
This low-rise resort has a very nice landscape with a lot of trees. It is a long way from the lobby down to the beach. Luckily, but it is just 100 metres from our Garden Suite to the swimming pool and then the beach. The sand is not white but the beach is clean and well maintained.
The resort also provided spa package but we did not use it. There is an open book corner near the swimming pool and the restaurant . Most of the books are in German and Russian.
Unfortunately, they do not have an outdoor playground even though many of their guests are families with kids.
HOW WE PLAYED
Playing sand on the beach was one of the activities we have never missed. This trip we played on the beach in the evening and in the early morning, Rak and Rome knew how to build an easy sand castle. They fetched sea water by themselves.
This time, we did not play in the sea since the water was not clear, unlike the beach at Dusit Thani Pattaya. So, they just played on the beach and asked Mum to help them with the labour. Dad was an observer/photographer.
The beach time was ended when they started to have a sand fight by pouring sand onto each other head, Then, Mum announced “Time’s up”.
WHAT RAK AND ROME DID TO DAD
Like on the beach, we played at the swimming pool two times: in the evening and in the morning. It was the time when the others had dinner and breakfast.
Rak always wanted to hold Dad’s back. Rome wanted Dad to carry him. Think of the way our skinny Dad had to entertain both of them at the same time in the swimming pool!
This time, Rome had an advanced teasing method for his Dad. He knew Dad did not want him to taste the water in the swimming pool. What he did was he called Dad or sent Dad his naughty eyes. Only when Dad looked at him, he would stick his tongue out into the water. Dad announced “Time’s up”.
HOW WE ENJOYED THE JACUZZI
The Jacuzzi was our first and last entertainment we had at this resort. The first time, we started after we finished lunch on the day we checked in. The second time was before we checked out. It was really worthwhile to choose this room type. The kids had a very great time in the Jacuzzi.
The garden umbrella was very useful preventing us from the strong sunlight. The deck was vey hot until Rome complained that he felt pain at his feet.
Dad and Mum had to admit that this was the activity that made them completely exhausted. Rak and Rome asked us again and again to throw them up into the air and hold them when they fall down into the water. The horse riding in the Jacuzzi also made the horses very tired.
RELAXING AFTERNOON
Rak and Rome complained about the hot weather and asked for some fruit shake and ice-cream. Dad and Mum brought them to Rimpa Lapin. The restaurant is not far from the resort. We arrived there at 4 pm. The shady garden was perfect for our kids who could not just sit still.
We ordered 3 shakes and a mocktail, Blue Sky. Rome, who was supposed to have a watermelon shake, did not allow anyone to drink his taken-over Blue Sky. We paid 320 Baht for our drinks.
After finishing all, we had to leave quickly before Rome throw their ashtray and lantern.
WHAT WE HAD FOR DINNER
After leaving Rimpa Lapin, we went to Baan Amphur Beach. This was a very good public beach for kids. There were many cheap seafood stalls and one real restaurant having seafood and western food.
This beach trip was totally different from the past. Rak and Rome chose spaghetti for dinner. Mum wanted Larbmoo and Dad ordered Somtum with fresh crab. We also bought pork BBQ and fried chicken. We had them all in our room at the resort.
We arrived the resort at 6 pm. Rak and Rome went directly to the beach, then the swimming pool and the bathtub. While Rak and Rome were playing in the bathtub, Dad and Mum had dinner happily. The kids were satisfied with the time we let them play,. They ate a lot after all. This was a real WIN WIN situation.
RAK’S WRITING
Rak was too lazy to complete his writing. He drew a picture of what he saw at the resort as a substitution.
